The parish of Santo Estêvão, located in a transition zone between the sea and the mountains, in the Algarve's Barrocal region.
Among the craft activities that still exist, the highlights are basketry made of wicker or cane, lace, wooden chairs and distillery. In terms of gastronomy, sausages and other pork products, homemade bread, regional almond sweets and dried fruits mark the flavours of this area of the municipality.
Part of the population still makes a living from farming and citrus production. The production of carob, citrus fruits, figs, almonds and hunting also play an important role in the parish's economic activities and in the population's diet.
